  1. Can't think of any advantages - the emergency contact one is spurious because all schools have a telephone should someone need one.

Disadvantages: lesson disruption, disputes caused by jealous rivalry, owner of phone can become victim of robbery.

  2. advantages - easy to get in touch with parents if need be,

    - if emergency were to arise parents could get in touch with kids knowing they had there phone with them

    disadvatnages - distraction from work

    - may use during lesson (i did aha) and txt friends/play games etc.

  3. Advantage - use in emergency. There are no more.

Disadvantages - risk of theft, distraction in lessons, general annoyance of ring-tones/rubbish music being played by chavs.

  4. Disadvantages - distraction to the point of addiction, cheating, they get stolen and either the student/parent wants the school/teacher to be responsible for it, parents call the school in a panic whenever there is a lock-down because they found out faster than the teachers did, a new way of bringing p**n to school, pictures/videos of students/teachers/fights end up online, etc.

Advantages - They can call their parents when they need a ride.  Or they could just go to the office.

  5. Disadvantages are that they could distract them in class or get stolen or broken.

There is only one advantage I can think of and that is that they can be contacted in an emergency.

  6. Advantages:

    -emergency situations

-have calculator and convertor functions :)

-encourages friendships (swapping numbers, chatting outside school)

    Disadvantages:

    -theft and risk of violence

    -distraction

-bullying -child may have an old phone, those who dont have one may get ridiculed etc.

-risk of anti-social behaviour-children text bullying, spending time just on phone and not making real friends, stealing money to buy new phones etc.

  7. The only advantage is in the case of emergency.

    The disadvantages are:

At my old school in california when texting just started getting popular we had a fight organized by text.  After that incident we banned cell phones.

    During tests, students exchanging answers.

During the school day students exchanging pictures that are very inappropriate and contain graphic matter...Naked girls etc...

  8. Advantages

    1) security (outside lesson times)

    2) communication with peers

    3) Listening to music or playing games during break/lunch

    Disadvantages

    1) expensive equipment which is not insured in school which is why most schools do not allow them

    2) breech of exam rules when sitting exams

    3) privacy rules and child protection issues.  Photographing or videoing of others in school has to have parental permission granted because of the childrens act.  You would not be allowed to record others in any way.
