Am planning a trip to paris which is not lasting more than 3 days-saturday,sunday and monday.

I would like to know the best plan considering i would sleep only for 6 hrs & have the ability to recklessly travel -by foot/ rail/ bus/ (anything but cabs! )around without getting much tired.

thanks!

  1. The metro in Paris is very convenient and the tourist attractions are close to each other, so it's definitely possible to visit Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame and the Louvre Museum on the same day. However, there are too many places that you can go in Paris, so it's advisable to do some research and mark out the places that you want to go before arriving.

If you can, get a guide book from the tourism office. It lists almost all tourist attractions (also almost impossible to go to all) in Paris with opening hours and days, and it is organized by geographical area. So you can plan your day according to which areas you want to go. For example, if you visit the Louvre in the morning, you can check out some of the interesting places around it, a lot are within walking distance. If you don't want to walk too much, metros are everywhere.

If you plan to go to the Louvre Museum, remember that it can easily take up to 5-6 hours if you want to see everything. If you only want to see some of the masterpieces, I'm sure 2 hours will be enough.

The good thing about Paris is most of the attractions are closely located and the metro stations are not too far from each other. So it's possible to go to anywhere in Paris only by metro. Paris is not too huge. Taking a metro from east of Paris to west of Paris will probably take 40 minutes. Definitely ask for a metro map and a Paris map from  any of the metro stations. Buy an unlimited travel pass so that you can take the metro from one attraction to another. Sometimes I take the metro even if there are just one or two stops away.

Hope you enjoy your stay in Paris!

  2. The metro will be your best friend. You can literally go anywhere bc the metro is near most of the attractions. Don't use the hop on/off pass as the metro only costs 11 euros for 10 tickets.

Grab a brochure from the hotel, all them have map of the city in it with the major attractions highlighted.

From the Eiffle Tower you can walk to the Arc du Triumpe. From there you walk the Champs Elysee (Street full of shops and restaurants. It leads to the Jurden Tuillieries (huge park)which leads to the Louvre. The Louvre will take up the rest of your day. You can easily spend days in there. So plan ahead on what you want to see.

The Musuee D'Orsay is near the Notre Dame Cathedral. The D'Orsay is another musuem you can spend a whole day at but it is a must. The architecture of the building inside alone is worth seeing. The Notre Dame, you there for an hour and then your on your way.

I suggest doing the Seine Cruise at night, hands down one of my favorite times when I was there.  The Sacre Couer was amazing, its a cathedral on top of hill with a incredbile view. Its kinda of out of the way but totally worth it. One of my other favorite times was visting the L'Orangerie; has Monet's Waterlillies plus also different artist Rodin, Sezanne, etc. The museum is right beside the Jurden du Tuilieries.

Other places you might be interested is the St.Chappelle and Concierge (where Maria Antoinette was kept prisoner). Personally I don't think its worth, specially if your only there for 3 days but its a personal choice.

You can go to www.frommers.com where you can get all the information on attractions, transportation, restaraunts, and budget hotels.

Have fun! Your going to love it!

  3. first of all i advise you to buy an orange ticket (carte orange) for one week( hebdomadaire) for the zones 1-2 = 16,80€. with it you can use all buses, tramways, metros, PCs.

you should ask for the city planing of transportation so that you can move easily. you should visit tour Eiffel, musée de Louvre, Les champs Elysee, jardin des plantes, chateau de Versailles, etc... with respect to the hotels, you should have a budget of minimum 80€ per night for a very normal & small hotel because normally in this season they are a bit expensive

  5. Plans are depending to the nature of people who travels. Different choices. You can plan it better when you arrive there.

  6. In General, south of the river is best....hotels around Monparnasse are cheaper and still a good location, try denfert-rochereau as this is on the same RER train link to the airport.

Also, save money on climbing the Eiffel Tower by elevator to the top of Monparnasse Tower where you can see all of Paris and have the Eiffel Tower in the background of your pix...

For a fantastic and truly typical French meal look no further than le pot de terre. For 15euros you get the best 3 course meal in Paris and a wonderful dining experience as if you where in the French countryside. www.lepotdeterre.com
