last night my mom and i were walking my dog at the park when all of a sudden 3 dogs ran up and attacked my dog. my mom tried to stop the fight and eventually she broke it up (!!!) but she had a bunch of puncture bites all over her arm. she went to the ER while i took my dog home. my dog is at home alone right now and he had a bunch of small scratches and cuts, but he wasn't really bleeding. do you think he's still fine? and by the way, this happened like 7 hours ago.

  1. Flush out the wounds with peroxide. Take your dog to the vet and hopefully you've kept your dog up on his rabies shots.

  2. I would not take any chances! I think you should take him to the vet today and have him looked at. These dogs could have caused damage to his insides, which you can't see and he needs to have those cuts and scratches properly cleaned out, so they don't get infected. You also need to make sure that your dog is up to date on his vaccinations, because you don't know what the dogs that attacted him and your mom are carrying, if anything! It's always better to be safe than sorry! I hope your mom is  better soon! That must be so painful!

  3. Definitely take your dog to the vet. Bite wounds can get infected so easily, and infection can spread quickly. Better safe than sorry! Plus, you need to make sure that your dog is current and up to date on all of its shots or it could really be in trouble.

  4. You need to take your dog to the vet.  You don't know if there has been any kind of internal damage or not.  Remember the old saying: Better Safe Not Sorry.

  5. has had allshots? call vet for wound care ointment should advise you

watch him carefully for a few days as infection can occur evenin dogs

  6. Aww poor pup..  I would have a look over by a vet..  Does he have his shots??

You know what I do for my animals, lord knows they are always fighting w/ each other..  I soothe bites w/ green tea bags, as well as disinfect them..  Sounds hippi-ish lol but I swear it boosts the healing process...  Don't go overboard w/ peroxide and never use alcohol..  Both can kill healthy tissue and alcohol burns...  He may need to be seen and get on a broad spectrum antibiotics like clavamox..  I would report those dogs, you shouldn't have to be attacked like that, not cool! xx

  7. Take your dog to the vet today. Puncture wounds from dog bites can look harmless but need to be checked by your vet as looks are often deceiving with this type of wound.

  8. take it to the vet an until then wrap it up with medical tape, that tape that sticks to only itself, or put a cone on the dog so she wont l**k or bite the wounds.

  9. I hope you called the cops on these loose dogs.  They can carry many diseases that could infect both your mother and your dog.  The Animal Control should be alerted and have the dogs picked up and checked!

  10. As there is always a chance of infection, you should take your dog to a veterinarian.

  11. Take your dog to the vet for a check up. He may have other injuries you can't see. Dogs don't usually show pain because it is a sign of weakness so they may hide it.

Keep all vet and ER records if you need to go to court. I would definitely report the incident to the police and or animal control. If there is is any way to find the owner of the stray dogs they should be held responsible.

  12. First of all, if your mom was bitten, she may need Rabies shots. Unless she got them at the E.R. before.. Second of all, even if the wounds stopped bleeding (on your dog), he may still be badly injured. I'd advise taking him to the Vet, because anything from nerves to veins may have been punctured, which in that case, he'd need medical attention. If you didn't clean them out yet, you can clean them out with a small amount of Peroxide. If you plan on taking him to the Vet, they can do this. It's just needed to prevent infection. Also, has he had his Rabies shots? If not, he definitely needs them. Good luck!

  13. Keep them clean and keep an eye on your dog. Make sure he's eating and drinking still.

Just so y'know, many times after a dog is attacked like that they develop fear aggression towards other dogs. And don't be surprised if he's depressed for a bit.

  14. As everyone else has stated take your dog to the vet for a check up asap as they say there may be other injuries, dogs are good at hiding stuff from us like that.

Also Dogs have a lot of bacteria in their mouths if this gets in to your dog's blood via the bites this could turn nasty, you vet will probably give your dog an antibotic shot just in case.

  15. Did you disinfect the wound?

    Has it eaten any food?

    Is your mum ok?

Did you report to the police?

If you say yes to all, he will be fine. Just keep monitoring him and see a vet if he gets worse.

  16. Who knows what the dogs who attacked him may of been carrying. Who knows if there is internal damage to your dog you can;t see. You should have taken him to the vet right away last night, but better to take him first thing this morning than not at all just to be on the safe side. Internal injuries often show no symptoms until it's too late.
