We're all travelling on Australian Passports and are flying to Cuba through Canada, We want to visit the US afterwards but i heard somewhere if you have a cuban stamp in your passport you may be denied entry due to the strange protocols America has!

  1. The essential requirement for each visitor is a tourist visa which is stamped on entry and exit from Cuba. They are obtainable from the Cuban embassy.

The Cubans are aware of past problems encountered when entering the USA with a Cuban stamp in your passport, and to this end won't (or shouldn't) stamp it if you're traveling to Cuba as a tourist.

  2. No worries, the Cubans don't stamp your passport, unless you ask them to. They know about the strange American protocols. I travel there twice a year, and haven't had my passport stamped in the past 8 years.

  3. No you won't be denied access to the US. They have no jurisdiction over your travels because you're not an American citizen.

Cuba never stamps your passport anyway (unless you ask them to and want it on your passport).

But either way, you will not be denied entry to the States. They have issue with their own citizens travelling to and from Cuba...and it's not really 'travelling' that's illegal but it's the spending of money as a US citizen in Cuba...it's only legal when they obtain a travel license from the OFAC which will permit them direct travel to Cuba and can spend money there.

The Embargo is between the US and Cuba...not Australia, Canada, or other countries.

Don't worry...go travel worry-free wherever you please. The American protocols will not affect you.

  4. Depends whether Cuba is part of the US by next year.

  5. absolutely no problem, I agree with you the U.S. does have some strange protocols  a couple of years ago they were giving a hard time to some Canadian business people whose company had investments in Cuba.  Some day the U.S. may get onboard with the rest of the free world and abandon their foolish stance which no doubt hurts the ordinary Cuban.  Your passport, as others have posted won't be stamped unless you ask for the endorsement when you enter Cuba.  I did that a few years ago because I wanted the  stamp as a souvenir. To our friends from down under have a wonderful time.  You'll love it, no McDonalds, casinos, time share sales people etc. etc.  Cuba is great.

  6. Americans go to Cuba and return to the U.S. apparently without negative repercussions, so you should be o.k. Just to be sure why don't you write or call the state department in the U.S. or check their website. I hope you are able to find your answer soon so you can spend your time instead making plans to visit the U.S. once you leave the beautiful island of Cuba; America has its own charms too.

By the way, you should had been a little more diplomatic with your question, some may find it offensive (...due to the STRANGE protocols America has"). Ouch!

I guess when some outsiders, who by the way were welcomed here, bomb our buildings and kill thousands of our people, others may resent but understand our tight security, but after what has happened, I would also be finicky about who I allow in my house. And no, we don't have "strange protocols", we base our revamped security on horrific acts against innocent Americans, so yes, we are double securing our borders; we have enough nuts of our own.
