  1. abolish state government and just let city and local government manage the funds provided by the federal government.

  2. Federal - Canberra, House of Reps, Senate

State - WA, SA, Vic, NSW, ACT, NT, Tas, Queensland governments

    Local - Local  city council

The feds draw up national legislation/laws and administer national projects and problems

States do the same but administer probs/ projects that are peculiar to their state and not nation wide.

Local councils administer the local areas districts of any given city

I don't see how you could have less levels of government in a democracy and still have true representation

  3. 3 levels seems just about right, federal gives funds to state which funds local councils, if you get rid of local councils then the state government would be overwhelmed with everything, they already cant keep up with local councils asking for more money and help so getting rid of them doesnt make any sense, adding more doesnt make sense since the more you add the more red tape you have to cut through and the slower things will go.

  4. legislature (write the laws - house of reps & senate)

    executive (Prime minister, cabinet etc)

    judiciary (supreme court etc)

  5. The three levels of Government are local, state & federal. The state and federal governments powers and jurisdiction are laid out in Australia's consitution - so they can't be changed unless we have a referendum.

Local government (council) helps run the place at a micro level - as all areas have their own special needs requiring focus.

In my opinion we should get rid of state governments and only have federal and local government. There is too much waste in having another layer of public service. (Although it does keep the unemployment rate down and give jobs to people who wouldn't otherwise be able to be employed in the private system)
