I've not touched her toe nails 'cause I didn't want to cut them short 'cause that's what usually causes ingrown toe nails. The corner of her toe nail looks inflamed just like an ingrown toe nail. What's going on?

  1. My husband and daughter both live with ingrown's. What the general practice doctors have told us is as long as you cut the nail flat across the top and not curved at the edges the ingrown will grow out. If the toe is painful to the touch, just ask the pediatrician at the next visit.

  2. Stick some polysporin (or equivalent) on the nail 3-4 times a day and if it really worries you you can cut a small V shape out of the center of the nail which is said to help.

  3. Hmm, take her to the doc and have him look at it.  Ingrown toe-nails can easily get infected (if that's what it is).  Good Luck!

  4. cut her toe nails. it's not bad to cut nail, you just have to make sure not to cute them too short.

  5. I have the same problem, it is usually hereditary.  Swelling or inflammation of the foot and toe nail usually means that puss, and bacterial fluids are encased underneath the toenail where it is swollen.

The way to treat this is to cut the toenail all the way to the base of the toe, then empty out the blood and bacterial fluids, after all of this: use neo-sporin every day for 2 weeks.

I  guarantee your child will like it in the long run!

  6. My Dr said that ingrown toe nails are very common in babies and not to worry about it. It shouldn't bother your LO. But if it looks inflamed or infected I would def. get it checked out!
