3 month old rca television displays unusable signal?

I have a 42 inch Rca television that has worked fine and I got up one morning and it had stopped working and now says unusable signal on all channels. Dvd player also will not work on tv still says unusable signal. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

  1. Since you use a dvd player, I am assuming that you use it via one of the video input jacks and not through the tuner via channel 3. If this is the case ,then the cable is not the problem. I have seen this exact problem in some of the 42 in LCD tv's and the problem is caused by a defective main pcb.

    There is a small micro fuse on this boardl that tends to open and causes this syptom. I would recommend having it looked at by a tv tech to avoid any warranty. One thing you could try first is to unplug the set for ten minutes and then go through complete setup again as when you first plugged it in.


  2. If you have two devices complaining about the signal, then the signal is probably the problem.

    From where is the input coming?  If it's cable, call the cable company.  If it's an antenna, check that the antenna isn't damaged or mis aimed (wind can do both) or that the cable to the antenna isn't damaged.
