Ok, so I'm in high school and going to be a senior. Well my school basically is like 50yrs old(no joke) and EVERYTHING SUCKS and well I'm have some GPA issues.Ok well getting to my point.

Questions:

1. Are honor classes extra credits?(took one sophmore yr and now this yr)

2. My weighted GPA is 2.36. What would my grades have to be like this year to get that up to a 3.0 ?

Now with question number 2... I can only take 3 classes because my other 3 classes of the day I'm sent to a tech school to study and get my liscense for cosmetology so basically.... HELP. I really need a scholarship and that almost impossible without a 3.0 GPA.

  1. You would have earn 3 As, 3 Bs and 3 Cs to arrive at cumulative grade point average 3.17. This is if you were to take 6 classes.

  2. Short answer, you probably can't boost your GPA to a 3.0.  There just isn't enough road between here and there.  The lesson learned here should be that every decision we make we have to carry with us.  You'll have to carry about a 2.5 GPA out of high school.

EDIT:  Some other answers only talk about GPA for this year, not cumulative GPA.  It takes a lot change your cumulative GPA at the end of your high school career.

And a short note on school age: I taught in a 110 year old building, and it was fantastic.  The age of the bricks doesn't matter.  What we put in the nugget on our shoulders does.

  3. Honors classes, for the most part, aren't weighted. They prepare you for AP classes, which ARE weighted.

You have a fresh start at a GPA each year, so essentially on the first day of school, you're starting off with a 4.0 (After all, you have an A in every class until you bring it down). In order to get and maintain a 3.0 this year, you need an average of B. Like, you need to get Bs in all three classes, or get an A, B, and C (which averages out to a B).

If you're only taking 3 classes, make sure that you make them count. It sounds as if you're very intent on your career field already, so do some asking around to see which courses will help to benefit you in that field (math, English, etc.).

    Good luck!
