  1. Dreamer is correct, it would take 6 hours.  Why would it take longer to fill it using more taps? The other answers are incorrect.  If you divide 20 by 3 (those are the number of taps used) you get 6 2/3. Then divide 40 hours by that number (6.6666666667) and thats how you get your number of hours.

    20/3=40/x

  2. well, this means that each tap would fill it in 3 times 40, which is 120, so 20 taps would fill it 20 times faster, which would be 6 hours..(120/20 make 6, that is)

this is because the more taps there are, the faster it would fill

    btw, Berry:

    x hrs = (40 hrs x 3 taps)/20 taps = 13.33 hrs????????

    40 x 3/20 = 120/20 = 6hours..

  3. I is by unitary method ...i.e make 2 columns firstly write no. of taps in 1 n hrs in the other

    its like this

    taps                           hrs

    3                                    40

    1                                     40/3

    20                                      20*40/3

hope this helped u n the ans is 133.2 hrs

  4. 3 taps in 40 hrs

    20 taps in x hrs

the number of taps and the time required to fill the tank are inversely related. So,

    20 taps/3 taps = 40 hrs/x hrs

    x hrs = (40 hrs x 3 taps)/20 taps = 13.33 hrs

    ---------

Sorry yeah that was a calculating problem. Funny how I got that answer. But my method is correct ;)

    Yes, (40 hrs x 3 taps)/20 taps = 6 :))
