My baby is almost 3 weeks old and couple of days ago she got little diaper rash. I put Desitin Creamy on and it looked like it helped, but today it came back, and now its hurting her. I have to mention that she has diarrhea. I dont know, but i heard "runny p**p" is normal with newborns. Anyways, diaper rash didnt seem to hurt her couple of days ago, but today, she was cryin bad like 10 minutes because it was hurting her so bad. I was changing her every time she pooped, or every time she woke up. What would you recommend that would work. I heard Desitin ORIGINAL would help too, but if the creamy one didnt work, would original one help? Thanks for answers!

  1. My son had MAJOR rash...Do this exact thing.

Soak her in oatmeal bath for about 10 minutes(if you can)just try as long as possible. Get the oatmeal wet and try puttin it on the rash, then take her out and dry everything but the rash part, let her lay naked for about and hour, then wen you put on a diaper, put on an anti funal cream. IT doesnt matter if its for the foot or watever just as long as it is anti funal. Put it on there everytime u change the diaper. Let her lay naked as long as possible through out the day. It will worj. Goodluck~

  2. Here's the thing, you can go out and find the cream with the most zinc oxide, but if the zinc is burning your baby's delicate skin, it won't do any good.

My daughter was that way, and to be honest the best method I've found is to

    1) clean her bottom with a clean, damp rag, don't use wipes as they can sting.  Don't use paper towels because they are abrasive.  Just cut up an old cotton tshirt, it's the softest and least irritating.

    2) make sure it's dry, let her air dry for a moment if you can, otherwise light dab at her bottom till it's dry (don't rub it!)

    3)  goop her up with Vaseline, especially right around her little a**s.  It does indeed hurt to have diarrhea when things are red, make it as smooth an ordeal as possible!

  3. I would say take the baby to your doctor, and they will give you a prescription for a diaper rash cream. My 5 week old had a diaper rash as well and the doctor's prescription took care of it within a couple of days. Also, the prescription gives you enough cream that you can use again if the rash comes again. (the pharmacist told me to keep it to use it again until the expriry date!!)

  4. my 2 week old had one in the hospital and it just came back.. in the hospital they gave me a thick cream called sensi-care. you may want to ask your doctor about it, Also use sensitive wipes and sensitive diapers until it clears up. Also you could soak her bottom in clean luke warm water and changer her every hour to 2 hours so she stays clean.

As for desitin, it should work just keep using it. for me the sensi-care works 100x better though.

    good luck!

  5. The best diaper rash cream that i have ever found is Wal- Mart brand equate diaper rash cream. I know that you might think that it doesn't work as well because it is generic but it is better than anything that I have ever tried and believe me I have tried everything. Also try putting baby powder on top of the diaper rash cream because that will help with the pain because it cools the bottom down instantly!!!  Good luck!!!

  6. Cornstarch - doesn't have any medication in it so it wont burn, and you don't have to rub it in, just sprinkle some on after changing.  Also try rinsing out the baby wipes with water, the perfumes and aloe and c**p that they put in there could be irritating for baby too!

  7. I too have a 3 week old with a diaper rash. I used Desitin creamy and it cleared up but what I found to be the problem was that I had switched diaper wipes. With such a supply laying around from various baby showers and such I ran out of the Pampers Sensitive that I was using and started using some Huggies Natural Care (thats when the rash came). So...I bought some more sensitive wipes for safe measure and the rash immediately went away.

  8. Mix any kind of bum cream that has zinc in it with vasiline.  Make sure your changing his diaper right as soon after she poops as u you can.  Also sitz baths a couple times a day.  My little guy had a nasty diaper rash for 2 weeks and didn't go away till i tryed this.

  9. use any ointment without zinc oxide, and then apply that after washing the area, and corn starch her up.  its in the bakery isle at the grocery store.  dont be afraid to use to much either, just pour it on, should be gone in a day! good luck!

  10. What i use on my 2 is pampers sensitive wipes and sudocrem i can tell you i will clear if you use these two. Sudocrem is the best for nappy rash!

  11. i have two younger sibblings 3 and 2 when they got really bad diaper rashes my mom would give them a bath, if you can try to let her sit in the bathwater for some time and then she would dry them off and let them be around the house with out a diaper for at least a half and hour . it works pretty well because the rash airs out if you keep putting cram and diaper its just going to irritate more so at least let it dry out a bit . she also used powder instead of cream . its a different method maybe it can help.

  12. I have a 3 month old, and my wife and I use Desitin Creamy every time we change her diaper. She has not developed diaper rash yet.

  13. I liked balmex better than desitin. It seemed to sooth my son faster.

  14. My son had a diaper rash due to diarrhea, and our PED told us to let him "soak" in the tub about 3 times a day with baking soda and to use Lotramin on his bottom. He was about 5 months when he had this, I would give your dr. a ring and see what they suggest.

Also let her air out as much as possible let her lay on a towel, and possibly without a diaper at night, if you can buy some cloth diapers or go up a size so it won't be irritating her.

  15. You know your baby may not be able to wear Huggies or pamper diapers. I had to get off brands such as the target brand diaper, or white cloud from wal-mart for the same reason and it cleared up. It may be something in the diaper itself that is bothering her skin. You may want to try this for a few days and see what happens. Or you may have to go to cloth diapers. Good luck.

  16. The products I like best are Boudroux's Butt Paste and Triple Paste.  You can get either at Babies R Us or Target or Walgreens.  The Triple Paste works really well for bad diaper rash.  Another thing you can do is when you change her, let her chill for a minute without her diaper so her skin really dries in the air, then put the cream on and diaper her.
