Just rescued 3 week old kittens, they were nursing but in a very bad environment. Have one cat and she is up to date on shots and spayed. got here when she was 4 and half months so she already had most of her shots and was not much of a "baby". We have one boy and one girl..we think..its very hard to tell. we have been bottle feeding them and going by those directions. however one bit so hard he bit off the tip of the nipple and swallowed it.. WILL HE BE OK??? I am worried he will not be able to p**p this out? Also they go in the litter box not sure how they learned but we have seen the male pee 2 times and seen the female attempt 3 times. Is this normal? Will the female pee or p**p soon? I am just concerned b/c i have never had kittens this young. also we put out water which the male has drank a little of and i just got some kitten dry food...this may be a little early. They are so adorable and full of energy and they seem to be healthy. we are on a budget but are going to take them to get their shots and eventually spayed and nuetered. Oh one more thing...the other cat of ours does NOT like the kittens at all..she growls and hisses at them all the time but is very curious at the same time and watches closly. Any info would be greatly appreciated..:)

  1. Re: the nipple/pooping - Call your vet immediately to seek advice.

  2. idk about the nipple.take him  to the vet?

the older cat is mad because these kittens are on her terf and she doesnt want them there.hopefully she will get over it if not ignore her hissing but make sure you give all of them equal attention

  3. If you can't handle them, take them to ASPCA, an animal shelter, or a vet will take them in.

    Flea Collars

Make sure they are clean.(Wrap in towel to avoid scratches)

Wet(canned) or tender food is best

You may also get cats carnation milk in can.(artificial)

He is ok. The nipple should be covered in water and treated with Vaseline.

  4. I would definately keep an eye on the one that swallowed the rubber, sometimes that can pass, sometimes it might not.  I have never had this happen before, so I can only tell you to be vigilant and keep an eye out for probems.

On the littlerbox, its great that they are already using it, but may need some help to go to the bathroom.  Most people don't realize that in order to stimulate kittens to go the bathroom, the mother cat licks them.  You may need to get a warm, damp rag, an gently wipe both their urethra, and a**s, to get them to go.  It ma take them a couple days to p**p; I've found that there is a bit of an adjustment time from mom's milk to formula.

Another tip:  Make sure that you don't over feed them because that may give them diarrhea.  Once they start to get all their teeth, you may take the dry food you bought, mix it with hot water and formula, and let it sit for about 30 minutes so the food will soak up the water and formula and create a gruel.  Then they can eat that instead of being bottle-fed. You can also try canned food mixed with water and formula, but the soaked dry food method is alot less messy.

Good luck, and thanks for taking care of them, kittens can be very hard to care for at this age.  But its good that you are trying because animal shelters this time of year are still so full of kittens that have lost their mothers.
