3 weeks oversea trip [Germany] packing list.. help!?

Question

We are going to a 3 week oversea trip to Berlin, Germany & then taking a train ride to Austria - we are visiting family & friends. Can you please advice us on how we can pack light? Any of you who have experience traveling to Germany, what should we do and not do? Bring and not bring [carry-on & regular baggage]? Advice on Weather [June - July] would also be helpful... =) Thanks

When I went to Germany in August 2006 for two weeks I packed pretty heavy.  I'm always a heavy packer.  But it gets pretty cold randomly there sometimes like when I was there.  I'd bring some shorts/capris/pants, etc...  If you don't have family there to wash your clothes you need to pack extra.  I visited family so I didn't need to pack alot of clothes, because they could be washed.  Now all you really need is clothes.  Don't bring shampoo or anything like that because you can buy that there.  Its just gonna get smashed and go all over your clothes.  But you said June-July the weather will be like it is here in the states...except it happens like a week later...like lets say we ahve a week of 90 degree weather and then a week of 70 degree weather when we have the 70 degree weather they will have the 90.  Make sense?  lol!  Carry on...remember no liquids, lol!  Umm, lets see here...you might want like a little backpack with maybe an IPOD or something, and a hoodie in case its cold when you get off the plane.  Thats really all I can think off.  I had my laptop as a carry on because I didn't want that in cargo, no way!
