I have twin 3 year old daughters, Bambi and Cara. Recently they were supposed to take a trip to London with their father, but Cara gt sick at the last minute and had to stay home. While my husband and Bambi were in London, I let Cara sleep in my bed with me because she was afraid to sleep in her room alone. Well as it turns out, my husband let Bambi sleep in his bed with him while they were in London, because she was scared too. Now that they're back though, the girls won't sleep in their own beds! We've tried everything, sitting with them while they fall asleep, ignoring them and putting them right back into bed when they get up, extra stories and warm milk before bed, but they always get up in the middle of the night and wake us up! What should we do?

(and BTW no snarky comments about the name Bambi, it was my husband's sister's name and she practically raised him as a child so he wanted to name our daughter after her)

  1. Let them sleep in a bed together. Maybe they just want to have someone there beside them. That's a tough one. Did you try a night light. Talk to them, tell them there's nothing to be afraid of and that Mommy or Daddy is right here and will be there if they need you.

    Good luck!

  2. That's a tough one.  I'd definately get it under control...the sooner the better.  Have you tried to let them cry it out?  I know it's very difficult w/ 3 year olds, but that's the only reccomendation I have.  Sorry I'm not much more help!

PS:  I think Bambi is a cute name:o)

  3. Let them sleep together in the same bed with teddy bears.

  4. if you have beds for them that you can easily push together, push them together to make one bed which they can sleep in together so that they'll always have someone next to them. If you can't push the beds together, or if they don't get along well enough to do something like that try getting them a special teddy bear or something that they can hold on to and tell them that the teddy bear will always protect them so they don't have to be scared or something like that

  5. I had this with my now 5 year old several times. It eventually went away, but I tried everything I could think of.  I think the final straw might have been a bribe... if you stay in your own bed you'll get..... whatever it takes really ha ha.  I think it was a new bike or something he really really wanted.
