My 3 year old was at the doctors on saturday and has a urine infection, she is now scared to pee as it was hurting before we went to the doctors. She has had anti-biotics now since Saturday but is still scared to pee, she is getting hysterical, does anyone know of any ideas to help her not be so scared

  1. Give her plenty to drink, then put her in a bath with some warm water and lots of toys and let her play there for a while. If she wants to go for a pee, let her do it in the bath whilst playing with her toys. She may not notice that she has gone, but you will, if the bath water is clear.

My friend did this for her lil'un when he had the same - it helped him realise that it didn't hurt to go to the toilet.

  2. Maybe you could get an empty bottle and fill it with tepid water and poor it out down there when she is on the toilet, my sis does this with her little girl when she has a UTI.

I also would ask a pharmacist if she can have ural maybe that will help too.

  3. I know the feeling we have had tons of issues with potty training . maybe you should try getting a bottle that you can squirt on her while she sits on the potty ( they have me one at the hospital after i had my 2 girls)

  4. put her in a tub/ bath with warm water and ask her to pee in it, the warm water eases the pain and should make it better for her (this is what you have to do after having a piercing down there!) as the warm water will stop the urine stinging her as much, also make sure shes drinking enough water as this will also dilute her urine making it less concentrated and then less painful.

  5. a U.T.I. HURTS!!! I can understand the scare! It may help (even though it sounds gross) if you put her in the bath tub and ask her to te tee in the water(it doesn't hurt as bad). The antibiotics will take a few days to stop the burnning!

  6. Have her drink A LOT of water through out the day. I mean contentious  water all the time. You can try putting her in diaper and she may do it at night when she sleeps. And you say "See it doesnt hurt anymore! All better!" And hopefully she will be okay.

I understand why shes scared. I actually kinda suffer from the same thing. I have re-accuring UTIs. I wouldnt say that Im "scared" but I hold in my pee with out thinking bc I dont want it to hurt. Good Luck!

  7. Try giving her plenty of water to drink to help wash is through her system, then when she goes to the toilet give her a glass of water to pour over herself down there whilst having her wee. It will stop the burning sensation.
