My daughter is 3 and has been out of day time nappys since 16 months and out of night time nappys since 18months of age. She would take her nappy off during the day and use the potty so she wasnt forced out of nappys and would wake up dry in the morning. In the last few months she has started wetting her pants during the day, sometimes a full wee that wets all her pants and sometimes just a little bit just to wet her undies, but doesnt wet her bed. She does this both at preschool and at home. Preschool said its just because of the cold but when i ask her she just says i dunno. I dont get angry at her about it i just tell her to next time use the toliet becuase weeing your pants is yukky and she says next time she will but it happens a few times a day. Anyone else with the same situation? Any advice will be great. Thanks

  2. Is preschool new to her? Are there any other problems at preschool, or any changes going on in her life? Changes can scare a toddler to the point of regression, and sometimes that regression is wetting the pants when previously fully potty trained.

Ask her if there is anything going on at preschool, such as a kid that picks on her, or anything that she doesn't like. If there is, help her find a solution to it. Speak with the preschool teachers and ask them if they have seen anything out of the ordinary going on and see what they can do to help solve the issue.

If it is something at home, try to remove the situation from her, or remove her from the situation. Once the issue has been discovered and solved, she should go back to her normal dry routine within a week or so.

    Good luck!

  3. My son does this when he is too "busy" to go potty.  I don't know your situation, but I think you should look into the consistency of care at the babysitter's.  There should be obvious signs, like the pee-pee dance (lol), or squirming, at which point, you simply make her try to go potty.  You could also train yourself to ask every hour or after she's had some to drink.  Finally, I found it effective to make my son "clean up" after himself.  He likes my help with things like getting dressed, so I make him put his own clothes in the laundry basket, get his own underwear from the drawer and put them on all by himself.  I do not praise him or smile, and I keep an even temper and tone of voice, and I tell him that he has to clean up because it is bad to pee in his pants.  BTW, since it is summer, kids tend to get into more "exciting" play, so I bet she doesn't want to stop to take the time to go.  She will soon find that it takes a lot more time to clean up everything, too.

  4. make her use the restroom right before nap or bed time.  If needed, get her up once during the middle of the night to use the restroom.  Limit  fluid intake 2 hrs before bed.

  5. Take her to the pediatrician and put her in regular underwear. She could be doing it because other children are doing it-she doesn't have the time and is too interested in her activity-

There is a certain type of retardation which begins with the child after being halfway or totally potty trained becomes untrained-it usually happens between 3 and 6 yrs old. After that there is a slow and gradual decline in cognitive abilities and usually leaves the child with moderate to severe retardation. Google it-
