my daughter is 3 and has really bad front upper teeth. All 4 upper front teeth are rotted very badly. I went through h**l trying to get her on insurance for over a year so she didnt have her first dentist appt. til she was 3. We have tried taking her to the dentist but the dentist we took her to said he wouldnt see her because she wouldnt sit still in her chair because she was scared. So he said to make an appointment in another year. Her teeth dont bother her, at least she doesnt complain...but we have still made her an appointment with another dentist. I feel so horrible because her teeth are so badly decayed. You can see the cavity instead of the tooth. The teeth have broken off and everything. What could this next dentist do, since the first one refused to see her?

BTW I am far from an irresponsible parent. she turned 2 she and I both lost insurance because i made too much for medicaid. So i tried CHIP but they said i didnt make enough for it...It took over a year to get her on something and i couldnt afford to outright buy insurance...I actually paid for two doctors appts. while waiting for insurance to come through on her....

  1. take her to a childrens dentist. It will be a nice setting, so she can be comfortable and more at ease, they will probably extract the rest of her front teeth because she now has root tips. how about trying to get her on medicaid the visits will be free and so will the dental work as long as it's in the guidelines.

  2. I am sorry to tell you but for the most part, it is mother's neglect, that cause baby's teeth to go bad.  do you know if your water has flouride?  did you feed her juice.milk or anything that is sweet in a bottle at night?  how do you know if she is brushing well?  do you know what plaque looks like?  mom should know all that to be a responsible mom as far as her baby's teeth are concerned.

probably what they should do is sedate her or put her to sleep and get everything done in one or two visits.  they'll just pull out the front teeth but it's ok, all her teeth are baby teeth and they'll eventually come loose.  but in the mean time you have to educate yourself, ask dentists alot of questions on how you can help your kid

  3. It sounds to me that your child might have whats known as Baby Bottle Tooth Decay. It occurs when you put your child to sleep with a bottle of milk or juice. Thats why we recommend that you only put a baby to sleep with water once their teeth have come in.  You see the formula pools around the teeth and it sits there and forms decay.

You will probably do best finding a Pedodontist for her. They are specialist for children. They have the patience and the means to handle children that are nervous.

  4. I can't help ya but, they're baby teeth better luck next time.

  5. I have been in the dental field 30 yrs and have seen this a number of times.  Its bottle mouth, children being put to sleep with a bottle of milk or juice and it sits in their mouth all night causing tooth decaying bacteria.  Also at 3yrs of age the parent should still be brushing the child's teeth, they do not have the dexterity.  Try a spin brush if the child resists you helping out, but I would stand by them and watch and help when need be.  As far as treatment now, you will have to find a DDS who will sedate the child so she can have the teeth removed.  Try to find a pediodontist- that is a children's dentist.  Good luck!

  6. what on earth has she been eating?
