30,000 miles in one year ... bad?

I bought my car used last August. It had 30,000 miles on it. This August I have 60,000 miles on it which means I put 30,000 miles on it in one year. I do drive many miles for work and school but they are mostly high way miles.

I know the average for one year is 12,000 miles. Is 30,000 really bad?

  1. Its not good or bad, if the time wasted and the money spent on gas does not bother you, then there is no problem. You will come to a point where you need a new vehicle a lot faster this way. Vehicles current value is mainly determined by the mileage, so you are depreciating the value of your car, but again if you have money, its not a problem.

  2. Side thought:  If you are driving that much on a daily basis, wouldn't it make sense to move? I mean, look at how many hours you are spending on the road instead of having the free time to do something else!

  3. really depends thro it is high its not unheard of does sound funny i drive about 200 or more a day  about a 1000 a month and dont get that much.. so you must be driving like 500 miles a day or more you must be rich

  4. Only thing it does is lower the value of the car faster.  Maintenance cost per year go up too.  If you have to drive that much then you have to.  Not much you can do about it.

  5. wow you ain't the only one who has put 30,000+ miles on a car in a yr. i have done so too and i am not sure if that is a good thing or bad thing. if you put 30,000+ miles on a car in a yr new or used. that means you are average about.  81.96miles a day round trip to and from places.

  6. 40 00000

  7. I drive maybe 120 000 a year, so no I think your doing good.
