Okay has anyone else had or have heartburn really bad? I have tried everything to get rid of it. From not eating past 5:30 at night to trying saltine crackers and water/sprite/juice. Last night was horrible. I couldn't get comfortable no matter what I did. I had heartburn and I had to sit up because I wanted to throw up when I laid down. I actually had to cry myself to sleep. I woke up this morning with heartburn, headaches, dizziness, and feeling like crud. Anyone else had this and what can I do to help?? Also as for the pressure that you feel down in your v****a like you are sitting on your baby's head what can I do to relieve that?? And the tons of pressure that I have when I stand up?

  1. I've had heartburn and my Doctor prescribed Tums Ultra which I took and it helped tons. What I did too was try to sleep in a more seating like position and drink a glass of cold milk before I took the tums and that seemed to work as well.

If it gets too annoying and bad, tell your doctor to prescribe something stronger, I live in Mexico now and my doctor gave me  a medicine called Riopan (gel like medicine in envelopes) which I do take when the heartburn is unbearable.

As for the pressure, have you tried getting a maternity support for your belly? it is like a belt that goes around your belly and helps you move some of the baby's weight to your back, balancing it so that all the pressure doesn't accumulate on your v****a while sitting or standing up. I have been using it and it is GREAT!

  2. Keep a supply of fruit flavoured TUMS on hand...they helped me through my last trimester in my second pregnancy.  As for the pressure...not much you can do about that, sorry.

  3. MAALOX IS YOUR NEW BEST FRIEND!!!

  4. Stay away from carbonated beverages, acidic foods and drinks, spicy food, and fried food! Wait at least an hour to an hour and a half after eating to go to sleep or lie down completely. What can happen when you have heart burn is after you eat and lay down the stomach acid can flow up through your esaphagus and thats why you have the heart burn. I know this because I have Acid reflux disease and have heart burn right now haha! story of my life. I also was pregnant for a while until I miscarried, and I had the same problem. Take tums. its all you can do. Try laying slightly elevated when you go to sleep as well. Avoid drinking and eating in a laying position. If you have any questions about anything else feel free to email me. also since you are pregnant if you haven't got it already you should get the book "What to Expect When You're Expecting." VERY good book its like the pregnancy bible. Good luck!

(For nausea a little trick I use is I bought crystallized ginger from the store in the spices section and I chew on a piece of that and it does help calm my stomach)

  5. The pressure will only get worse as you get closer. Try to stay off your feet as much as possible. The heartburn is terrible and as soon as you deliver it will be gone instantly. Try drinking cold milk and tums will become your best friend. Ask your doctor about it if you cannot bear it anymore and he can probably give you something stronger since you are 30 weeks. Sleeping propped up is good too.

  6. I know how you feel. I got heartburn so bad with my first child i had it when I was in labor too. Your doc and write you a prescription for it now. The soft chew antacids they have out now are awesome they seem to work alot better. Hope it gets better for you.

  7. Hi,

I think the most important thing to start with is to get your baby into a good sleep routine.  I had massive problems with getting my 4 month old son to sleep.  He would just lie awake and cry for hours, then when he finally went to sleep he would wake every hour or two hours through the night and cry again!  Talk about pulling our hair out .... we were absolutely desperate for sleep!

It was a baby sleep audio program recommended by a friend that finally saved us. We followed the advice and began by creating a baby sleep routine which included bathtime, dimming of the lights, putting James into his crib, final nappy change and then lullabies. We also made recommended changes to his naps during the day and used some of the other recommended techniques. Within two weeks he was sleeping through the night most nights with just the odd night where he would just wake once!

Definitely start by creating a good baby sleep routine though and you could find that solves most of your baby sleep problems.

    Good luck!
