Question:

30 weeks pregnant & having an increased number of migraines?

I am 30 weeks pregnant, and for the past couple of weeks I've had at least 3 migraines. The doctor only wants me to take regular Tylenol (which doesn't help) & I've tried having some caffeine (because a lot of migraine meds have caffeine in them), but nothing seems work other than time. If I am home, it is ok to deal with because I can lie down in bed until it passes. It is at work that it becomes a problem. I am still working full time, and when I get one, there isn't much I can do. I feel like c**p & am get nauseated (which means I am not being productive).

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to handle the migraines? Is it unusual to get them so late in the pregnancy?

Thanks for your help!

  1. Migraines can be a sign of high blood pressure so make sure you tell your dr that you have been suffering with them (as you said your dr already knows but I just added this for anyone else that may not know this)  You could try using a small dab of Lavender oil (do not use Spanish lavender it can actually stimulate your senses) on each temple (the smell is calming as well) or you could even try a dab of vick's or eucalyptus on each temple.  Always watch for side effects since any med/oil etc can have possible side effects and don't use if allergic or if you think that you may be allergic.

  2. Have you tried cold or warm compresses, or drinking warm tea, (like peppermint tea , plain tea, raspberry tea,.....)

    I hope this helps

  3. I got them in the beginning of my 2nd pregnancy. My DR told me to drink more water because I may be getting dehydrated. And try some vanilla wafers. It actually did help. The tylenol didn't work for me either. Just try increasing your intake of water.

  4. Well my doctor told me to watch out for headaches that are very sevire because now it could be part of preclampsia. So next app make sure you tell your doctor about your headaches.

  5. Yeah i know what you mean i have been having alot of bad headaches with this pregnancy. I'm also wondering what i can do to help with them lol. But i found rubbing my temple area with my fingers sometimes helps not always tho :( I will let you know if i find anything good to help Good Luck
