Many sources, including my teacher, have said that Kiberia in Kenya has 300,000 people per km2. That means 300 people per meter squared. How is this possible?!! is it true??

  1. ok lets think about it lol . Km = 1000 meters

    km ^2 = 1000 * 1000 = 1,000,000 meters

    So what u have is 300,000 / 1,000,000 meters squared

    so u have 0.3 people per meter squared does that make sense?  :-)

  2. No, your conversion is wrong. When checking area in metric, for every step you go back, you remove 2 zeroes.

    kilo -> hecto -> deca -> normal unit

    300,000 per km² -> 3,000 per hm² -> 30 per dam² -> 0.3 per m²

    It still seems pretty high, seeing as Monaco is the most densely populated country on the planet, and it has a population density of (only) 16,754 people per km².

  3. Cut up people into tenths?  I don't think so.  Let's do it the other way around.

    How much room does each person have?

    1km = 1000m

    1sqkm = 1000 x 1000 = 1000000 sq m

    1000000 / 300000 = 3.33 sq meters per person

    Hey, at least that's enough room to lay down.
