OK so I'm writing a paper and i have to give 5 examples of recreational technology that people 300 years in the future will have.

please note-it has to be stuff that people 8-17 will enjoy and it you have to use it outdoors.

so any new kind of skateboard type-things or any new sports would be ideal.

  1. Think all the wizardry in Harry Potter movies.

The hovering broomsticks and games played in the air, the self cleaning dishes,

the games played there...the giant chess board...

    J. Rowling has the magic figured out.

  2. Look at activities that have been around for 300+ years that people still enjoy today (and probably will 300 years from now):

    -fishing

    -hunting

    -boating

    -hiking

    -swimming

Now apply technology to those activities

  3. A variation on Brian's idea:

Instead of pokemon cards, kids would have their own fighting robots...

And 8-17 year olds? Laptops that can fold into your pocket... and there will be satellites everywhere to broadcast free internet so even in the wilderness they can check their email. Lol.

Also, hover boots... create a cushion of air (choose from 1in, 2in, 3 in) and you can run in the worst forests... the air cushion will prevent you from tripping over roots.

    A hover board maybe, too...

    Jet packs maybe.

    Hover bikes.

I think future... i think everything hovering off the ground. Lol.

So I'll try to think of other stuff...

For a new sport thing... maybe glasses where it simulates a playing field. You would be outside, in your own field (with fences separating everyone) and pay for an hour of play. You can choose the game... soccer, field hockey, etc.... it will all be simulated in 3-D with the glasses.

    :D

I hope I helped! Good luck!

  4. remote control toys

    robots

mmm its all i got. i like the robot idea though

  5. Mmm.... floating skateboards would be cool.

  6. I am very uncertain about what you are supposed to learn from this assignment, but here is an alternative perspective.  Why not look into the historical lifespan of various recreational technologies. As an archaeologist, I can say that, in Western culture, the popularity of these technologies have very low durability, while the general concepts of certain games have longer life-spans.  For example, the general concept of what we now call tennis has been around for at least a couple centuries, but the rackets, rules and even the courts themselves have radically changed.  Basketball has an even more remarkable history, though it is often thought of (incorrectly) as a quintessentially western game.

this study would give you a sense of how much change is likely to occur over the next three centuries, and what aspects are likely to change.

  7. People always assume we're going to have kick*ss technology in 300 years, but if we get in another major war and the whole economy gets screwed up it'll be the opposite.

I'm thinking hopscotch in a biohazard suit...
