Question:

300sd 123 diesel fuel line leak?

ok i unpluged one of the rubber fuel return line, because it's squirting out fuel, and found a crack in the line, so i reattach it (so i can go and buy a new line) but it's leaking out of control, it won't stop, i'm wasting expensive diesel, how can i stop the leak, fuel shut off switch?

help!

i don't know what i'm doing, this is my first diesel

  1. Jay's right, but why the thumbs down? You really can't shorten the cigar shaped return hose. You can use a regular piece of fuel line for a temporary repair.


  2. I answered your question in the maintenance and repairs section.

    What I'll tell you here is that a 300SD is not a 123 chassis.  Depending on the year, the 300SD name was used on the 116, 126 or a 140 chassis.  The 123 chassis had the 300D and 300D turbo ( essentially the same engine as found in the 116 and 126 chassis 300SD's, they all used variations of the M617 5 cylinder diesel ).

  3. smiply cut the line clean and attach.If to short,vaccum line will work until you can get the right lines.Order biodiesel rated,they last longer.

  4. It would be best to take it to the nearest Mercedes dealer to have it fixed. Trying to do it yourself could cost you more in in lost fuel than a dealership repair.

    The same logic applies to online advice about how to fix it yourself, it's hard to tell who knows what.
