32 Greatest footballers in the history of the English Premier League - Part 15
21. Robbie Fowler:
Robert Fowler is a professional football player who is currently playing for the club Perth Glory in the “A-League.” He was born in Toxeth, England and the English footballer was also a part of the English National team. Even though he is currently playing
for Perth Glory, his services at the Merseyside club, Liverpool are still hailed in England. Robbie Fowler was a part of the Merseyside club twice, as he left them once and then joined again later. He wanted to add more to his name as he came in the top goal
scoring “legends” of the English Premier League and Liverpool.
The former Liverpool man is the fourth highest goal scorer in the history of the English Premier League and still holds the record. In total, the English player has scored 183 goals for Liverpool and out of those 183, he scored 128 in the English Premier
League while the others were scored in non-English competitions.
After starting off for Liverpool in the 1993-1994 season, Robbie Fowler managed to score 18 goals in only 22 league starts. The next season he was given a chance to play as a first team player and the Liverpool striker appeared for the club 57 times and
managed to score 31 goals in all competitions. He kept on scoring consistently for Liverpool and he stayed there for 9 seasons, till the year 2002.
In the winter break, Robbie Fowler was transferred to Leeds United and started to feature as a power substitute for them. He stayed there for only two seasons and managed to score 14 goals in all competitions. Right after the second year spell, he was transferred
to the English club Manchester City who were struggling in the English Premier League.
He stayed in Manchester City for four years and managed to score twenty goals for them in the English Premier League. He rarely appeared for the Manchester side therefore he decided to move back to his former club Liverpool in the year 2005. He added 12
more goals to his tally as he did not really settle in Liverpool during his second spell with the English club.
He finally left Liverpool for the last time and took a transfer to Cardiff City. However, he refused a contract with the club which had the agreement of “pay as you play.” The Liverpool legend chose to go to Blackburn Rovers and decided to play for them
on a three month “pay as you play” deal.
After the three month spell at Blackburn Rovers, Robbie Fowler made a move to the Australian League and joined the “A-League” team North Queensland Fury. He is currently performing for the Australian club Perth Glory and has already found the net 2 times
in only 6 appearances.
Robbie Fowler was famous for his amazing goal scoring techniques. He would try to score a goal from almost anywhere possible and his goal against Manchester City from right outside the 18 yard box is still remembered by many Liverpool fans as he helped the
English team win the game 3-1 as he was busy bagging a hat trick for himself. That was one of his best performances ever for the Merseyside club and that is why he is still regarded as a legend in Liverpool. If there was one player who could replace his number
9 jersey in the English club, it was the Atletico Madrid star Fernando Torres.
Robert Fowler was a Liverpool legend who was also a great success with the English team. However, he wasn’t really known for his goal scoring during his time at the English national team. He was famous for the assist making. The former Liverpool man appeared
for the English team 26 times and found the net only 6 times. However, he is still regarded as one of the best players in the history of the English Premier League.
