32 Greatest footballers in the history of the English Premier League - Part 38

5. Eric Cantona (Continued):
Cantona was always considered to be a “colourful” character. The Frenchman was also famous for his outfits and the “oh-so-amazing” looks. After retirement, everyone knew that he was not going to quit being famous and the French star decided to pursue a career
as an actor. Eric Cantona decided to become an actor in short films and feature films that were being made in France. However, his biggest role came later on when he came on the big screen alongside Cate Blanchett in the fabulous movie named Elizabeth.
Cantona, just like David Beckham, was considered a footballer and a model. His “cheeky flair” was so perfect for advertisements, that many companies decided to sign him up for their ads. However, he managed to make his first appearance for the sports giants
Nike when they snapped him for their cool new advertisements that featured other fabulous footballers.
After being a part of the Nike advertisements, Cantona decided to change things round and started to coach football as well. However, his perception about football had changed “a bit.” The French man decided to be the coach of the French Beach Football side.
The former French star took the French Beach Football side to their own FIFA World Cup in 2006. While his “replacement” Zinedine Zidane was doing wonders with the official football team of France during the FIFA World Cup 2006, and was busy taking the team
to the final match of “the tournament,” Eric Cantona was busy taking the French Beach Football team to the semi finals of their tournament. The Beach Football team only managed to come third in that competition while the French team were the runner ups of
the FIFA World Cup 2006, under Zinedine Zidane who earned a red cards during the dying moments of the final match as he managed to head butt Materazzi and was sent off.
Eric is still considered to be one of the most unique players in the history of the game. With the number 7 shirt in Manchester United, with a collar turned up, Cantona was simply a master of the art. He was simply something that many dream of becoming and
the fabulous French player accomplished almost everything only when he was 30 years old.
Eric Cantona was simply the greatest player to play at the English Club Manchester United. He was definitely one of the best players to hit the Red Devils after George Best who was a part of the team during the sixties. He played a major part in developing
the English team and the English game after he was included in the squad of Manchester United. Cantona was simply loved by the Manchester United fans and it was simply his right to be loved as he helped the team win a lot of trophies.
Many critics think that Cantona underachieved; however, the only season in which he actually managed to perform in almost all the games was during 1996-1997 and that is the time when he managed to take the Red Devils to the semi final of the European Cup.
Even though he was under the radar all the time and he was the trouble maker throughout his time as a football player, he is still respected because he brings a lot of good memories to the fans of Manchester United in Old Trafford. His name is still chanted
in the “theatre of dreams” and even though his retirement from the English club was shocking, he is still considered to be a legend for them.
Cantona is definitely one of the greatest footballers in the history of the English Premier League!
