I was wondering which one is better a 32" 1080p/i or 26" 720p would there be not much of a difference between a 720p TV or a 1080p/i at that size?

And i sit from 3ft to 6ft frm my tv and i mostly sit 3 ft away.

(I don't have any more room for a larger TV in my room and the money so for the most 600$.)

thank you

  1. Get a 1080i/p.  These come in sizes smaller than 32 inches if you have space or budget constraints.

  2. 1st, if you usually sit only 3" away, the 26" will be fine, and 32" over kill. 2nd, your first poster doesn't have a clue! There is no such thing as 1080i/p or 720i/p. Its 1080p or 720p/1080i.

To the best of my knowledge, only one mfg. makes a 26" 1080p, and that's currently only being released in Japan. And only 3 I'm aware of make a 1080p in a 32". Reason: It's just a marketing ploy. Mere mortals can't tell the difference between 1080p and 720p/1080i in a screen size much less than 50", and of course witha 1080p signal input. Additionally, the only 1080p signal source now available is in BluRay movies and some BRD games.

The 2 best 26" (or 32") LCD HDTV for both performance AND reliability are Panasonic and Sony. A little cheaper, but very good is Toshiba followed, perhaps, by Sharp. You can make your $600 budget in a 26" LCD with one of these top quality brands.
