Question:

3200 meter tips?

i run the 3200 on my track team & i was wondering if anyone has tips for better distance running, like just any tips in general about breathing, pace, arm movements, stride, & finishes :) thanks!

  1. overall, just dont think when you run. if u think, u dont do as good. you just have to run.

    1st lap, start out a good pace and get out there in the group.

    make sure you start to breathe more than normal even if you dont feel as tired cause your body will start lactic acid fermentation earlier if you dont breathe as much (its not a good thing).  

    keep up ur pace as long as you can.  when you get 6 laps done, think of it as an 800. forget that you just ran 6 laps, think that you just started an 800 race and run fast. start your kick on the last 300 and take it all out on the last 100.

    always move your arms, because your legs always move with your arms. so when you move ur arms just a little bit faster, your legs go a little faster.

  2. Wear a watch on you every time you race so you can keep a steady pace.  Breathe in through your nose and out of your mouth. Don't miss your pace and go too fast on the first few laps and end up killing yourself on the last ones. Have good long strides and always push as hard as you can on the last lap.
