  1. Thats a pretty good time! Don't listen to what everyone else is saying! I'm guessing your around high school age? You wouldn't place extremely high in a high school meet, but for someone who doesn't train hard 1-2 times a day, and swims just for some excersize, that is an excellent time! Did you use the block? If you didn't, you could def. get a 32. If you want to work on your 50 time (sprinting), try doing sets of sprint 200s. I know that sounds crazy, but it really works! If you can sprint pretty hard a long distance, you can sprint REALLY fast a shorter distance. Also try just doing sprint 50's as fast as you go while maintaing a perfect stroke. Work on keeping your had with your body (head down), constant kick (even when u breath), rotate fully, and extend your arms out as far without crossing them. Keep up the good work!

  2. For an exercise/lap swimmer, 33 seconds is pretty good.

  3. Depends on your age. For HS it is a little slow, but not horrible. but for younger kids that is fairly good.

  4. it depends wat your age is and how long you have been swimming. also if you are a sprinter or distance swimmer.

I swim distance so I swim a 31-32. It takes me some time to get going but for my team mate he swims 50 frees on the 26 so it just a lot of things go into acount on wether that is a good time or not.

I would say about average for that time, but you will run into a lot of people who sprint and are faster than that.

  5. all my 50's that i swim in meets are about 23 second average.for competition in high school u will see about 24-25 second averages.so i woodnt say 33 is good but its not horrible,i  have people on my team that take almost 40 seconds soo

  6. good

  7. im on a swimteam and thats what i get for my 50 free. but my time is really bad for my age group.

  8. thats not particularly bad. for a just exercise swimmer.

im a competitive swimmer. my freestyle is horrible but my 50 is at 24-25.

    my stroke is butterfly.

  9. It is a pretty good time, if you are not a regular competetive swimmer.  My 50 Freestyle time is a 29, which is not great for a competetive swimmer my age.

  10. Hey, don't compare times with competitive (high school, etc.) swimmers and feel bad about yourself. 33 seconds for a 50 SCY free is good for an exercise swimmer. I jumped into competitive swimming really late (freshman year in high school: I ended that season with a 37.5). After a (summer long course) season on a club team, my time was a 34.98.

After my sophomore high school season (I ended that with a 33.73 as my best time), I went back to my club team and trained seriously this past summer. My current best time is a 31.58 SCY (36.26 LCM), which isn't fast for a competitive swimmer, but it's definetely progress.

Keep on swimming, it's a great sport.

  11. Once upon a time, when I was in HS in 1974, I usually swam a 22.0 for a 50.  Now that I too swim for exercise I usually can break 30.  If you never were a competitive swimmer and are out of high school, 33 is actually pretty good.  There is a lot of technique involved in going fast that a rec swimmer would not usually learn.

You should be proud of yourself, keep up the good work.

  12. For breast-stroke it is good, but not for other styles which should be between 24-26 secs. However if you are still in your early teens and have the passion to swim for your country, then i see no reason why you should not make the grade when you reach 25-30 yrs of age.Get a coach to set out a programme for you, if you are serious about your goals.
