Just wondering if any experience ladies out there had things that no one told you that you wish you would have known. Any thing you wish you would have packed in your hospital bag? Anything you really weren't prepared for? Anything that worked really great for you for natural pain relief? Just curious and if you have a moment to answer, that would be great!!!

  1. It's been almost 17 years since I had my son, I'm starting all over, lol. But, if the hospital still gives you a sits bath, don't forget to take it home. It helped tremendously with discomfort.

  2. i hear ya...  i'm 34 weeks and getting very anxious.   I;m trying to think back to when i had my first child... of course i had i c section so i didnt have to eal with childbirth...but i know things i was thankful to have brought to the hospital was my robe and slippers....and extra chap stick!   i lost mine while i was there and good thing i had an extra one....  and granny panties for sure!   i started packing my hospital bag this time around and i think i pretty much have the same stuff i packed last time...  lounge clothes and clothes i'm comfortable sleeping in...  breast pads... toothbrish and toothpaste..shampoo and conditioner, deodorant...just basic essential stuff

  3. I wish I would have packed more snack foods for at night.  I was induced so I had everything ready and was well prepared besides the food.  When I would get contractions before I had the epidural I would lay on my side and hold the hospital bed handle tightly.  That made me less concentrated on the contractions making them very tolerable.  I really thought the birth was going to be so bad because of what everyone said but really I would have to say it was not the worst pain I have ever felt.  I had a c section also.  Good luck and congratulations!

  4. You could be closer than you think-my first was born at 34w5d!  Be prepared for the crazy hormones that come after you deliver.  It was two days after my daughter was born, I was trying to shower in the hospital and crying because I couldn't get the top off the shampoo.  That was really silly, but I couldn't help myself.  I wasn't prepared for anything, since I thought I had more time.  As far as the hospital bag, make sure you have some things for dad while you're in labor, like snacks and music or reading materials, or cards.  Sometimes we forget that we have a partner in all this, since the focus is on us, but it's nice to remember he's there too.

  5. Just get alot of rest and make sure you are able to relax..Wouldn't hurt to get some extra (TLC) from the hubby right now too ;-)

  6. I would say stock up on pantiliners.  You'll need some pads for after you get home, because there is some bleeding.  More like a period type of flow though.  But, after all that is done, your bladder control is not  what it used to be.  Pantiliners can help with that until you can really get doing to kegel exercises to help out.
