33 weeks pregnant, should I quit work now?

I am 33 weeks, with my first child. I have been working at this company for almost 3 years. I am planning on not coming back after having the baby b/c I would like to stay home with her. My work already knows that I am not returning. This week, they asked me to start training my replacement. Now that my replacement is doing all my work, I basically just sit here, I have a desk job. I feel like there is nothing left for me to do, even like they are trying to give me the hint to go ahead and take off. We are slow here at my work this time of year, so I am bored to death. I am achy and tired from being near delivering, but not too terribly bad yet. Should I go ahead and quit, or should I just stay and make this extra money while I can. My husband does work and we will live off his income for the next few months or so while I stay home with the baby.

  1. If you can do it, it would be a great time.  If that doesn't work, maybe just working part time.

    Congrats

  2. I say definitely go on and quit. I left around 7 months. It's nice to have the ability to not work and still be able to get by. Enjoy the last few weeks of pregnancy and relax.

  3. If you aren't leaving them high and dry, you have already done the honorable thing and trained your replacement, than leave.  If oyu can afford to do that than you are a lucky gal.

  4. Sweetie thats an opinion you would answer yourself if you feel you can work til you have the baby then more power to you but if it was me i would stay the more money the less worries

  5. If you can afford it, go for it! I wish I could do the same thing. I am going to stop working at my 37th week, and i plan on returning. I dont have disability insurance so i will go without pay.

Just remember you may not have much to do at home. So think of some activities that will help you get through the boredom while you are home. Talk with your bosses and find out if they are really okay with you leaving early. If so , work another week or so and enjoy your time!!

Im sure you will be glad after the baby is born that you had some extra time to rest up!

  6. It really depends on your money situation. If your family doesn't need your income, then you can definitely quit and get some rest before baby comes, but don't become completely idle. You still need to be active. Go to the parks, museums, etc. Just remember you need to walk a lot.

Second, since I know I would be really bored being home all the time (since it's my first child), I would probably just cut the hours at work. If I could afford it, I would just work 20 hrs per week or so.

Third, if you feel like you need extra money, then I would stay (that's what I'm doing right now). I know there is not much to do, but just try to find something. Your boss cannot force you to leave your job right now (it's against a law).

  7. If you two can afford for you not to work.. y not??? if there's nothing for u 2 do there y stay? it's up 2 u.. i dont c y not... good luck hope u have a safe fast delivery

  8. if you can afford finish now, or if you feel that little bit of extra income will help than why not stay and get paid to sit all day and do nothing, the same you would be doing at home right? but at home you don't get paid so it's really up to you and your financial situation
