33bhp while doing full bike test?

Hello Everyone,

I passed my a2 license about 5 months ago, and have been riding a 33bhp 2005 gs500. I have booked my full test for the 24th. My issue is the fact that I have to remove the sliders (put the old ones back in) and ride 3 miles down the road to the test centre. Isn't that illegal with regards to my current a2 status and insurance?

Maybe I could de-restrict gs when I am at test centre? Would rather not go down that route

  1. Displaying 'L' plates, you are allowed to go 'to and from' the test centre on a bike over 33 bhp. (Obviously it's ok during your test too !) You're ok as long as your test is booked in advance - if you get stopped by the police they are likely to check this - so as long as you take the test confirmation letter with you, you'll be fine.

Also, technically you have to take your test on a bike of at least 47 ish bhp, but they're not exactly gonna check.

If you're really worried, just hire a bike from a riding school for the duration of you test.
