Question:

33wks pregnant pains in hip at night?

Im suffering from what I can only describe as a dull ache in my left hip. It feels a bit like growing pains did as a kids. I only get it on the one side, at night in bed every night! Lying on my right side I pull my left leg out from underneath the duvet and lie it across the duvet which helps to elevate my leg. The pain subsides for a short while and then im woken again with the pain a short time later.

Its getting on my nerves and it actually bugs me more than having the heavy, uncomfortable bump. Does anyone else get this or am I the only unfortunate one?

MANY THANKS

  1. i had the same problem with my 2cnd child. when i asked for an answer from my doctor she said to keep a pillow in between my legs and drink a glass of warm milk an hour prior to bed. apparently the calcium in the milk helps the muscle and bones relax. It worked for me i hope it does the same for you. Good Luck

  2. It's just the ligaments in your pelvis softening in readiness for the birth.  This is as a result of hormonal changes which soften the ligaments to make your pelvis as supple for the birth.  A lot of women suffer with this and at its most extreme can find walking incredibly painful to the point that they need crutches to walk about.  It can take a little while to settle down after the birth too so don't be afraid to ask for and to accept any help that is offered.  Good luck.

  3. u may want to consider syphisis pubis dysfunction as this how it starts i have it severely and can now barly walk at 35 wks pregnant so im being induced.next week.

  4. i had this when i was pregnant and it turned out that my baby was on my nerves but i asked the drs for a belly support and it helped tons i got told to wear it when i was in pain but the pain was only at night time and i couldn't sleep because of it

    Godd luck x

  5. i am the same! i'm 33wks pregnant and my hip pain is with my RIGHT hip. other then that, we are suffering exactly the same.

i do the duvet thing too. when i tried to use a pillow to elevate my legs, my hip hurts more. so i just use the duvet instead.

what helps me is to stand up and rotate my hip by moving my leg around. i swing it back and forth, in and out, round forward and round back. if i do this before going to bed and again every time i wake up to go to the bathroom (every 2 to 3hrs) it helps reduce the pain a lot.

  6. this is perfectly normal. it is all to do with the ligaments in your pelvis and hips.  i was bothered with this during my 2 pregnancies. uncomfy i know but think of the finished product
