1. They'll tell me next week if they're going to admit me to the hospital at 37 weeks to try a version, which I'm not convinced about yet. They said they'll set me up as a c-section in case anything goes wrong. Do you think that means they'll do the c-section then and there if the version doesn't work?

2. If I choose not to do the version, which is likely, what week will they schedule a c-section for? I'm concerned because my mother and sister delivered all of their kids 2-4 weeks early and I've already been in the hospital having contractions, but I never dilated at 22 weeks. We live a half hour away from the hospital and I'm concerned about getting their in time to not have an emergency c-section if labor starts early.

3. How bad was the recovery from your c-section, if you had one?

  1. 1. They set you up for a c-section when you have an aversion done because if the baby goes into distress while the procedure is going on, they have to get it out.  If they try the aversion and the baby doesn't move, they will schedule the section, but unless there is a major issue, they won't do it then and there.

    2. Scheduled c-sections are usually done around 38.5-39 weeks.  They don't want you to get too close to the due date, but they want you to be term.  Have you discussed the family history with your doctor, so they know your family tends to go early?

    3. Recovery was rough.  The first section was a lot harder than the second, since I knew what to expect the second time around.  Part of what is hard is that you can't do steps more than once a day and my house is a split level.  Simple things hurt that I didn't expect to, like stepping into the bathtub to shower.  By the time you get to about 3-4 weeks after, you really start to feel a lot better.

  2. if you go into labor before next week they will likely do a c-section.. recovery for FULL recovery is 2-6 weeks depending on you but to be active and be with your baby .. just a few days but no heavy lifting

  3. if their efforts to turn the baby are unsuccessful they may want to go ahead with a c-section right there, but if it were me i would insist they wait. babies can still turn even right before labor begins, i've actually heard of women being IN labor and the doctors trying to coax the baby into a position to deliver and it working. so if you are trying to avoid a c-section i would give the baby time to move on its own because its not impossible and it happens often that at 34 weeks the baby still isn't turned and then when they check a week or more later the baby has turned on its own.

i've heard of stretching on all fours...doing the yoga cat/cow pose while the baby is very active and that has helped some women turn the baby naturally. i also read where women laid on their backs and put their feet on a wall raising their pelvis up above their heart and stretching like that to get the baby to turn.

i can't say about a c-section because i've never had one, that is my big fear with this one...

best of luck to you and your baby! i'm sure no matter what you and the doctors decide everything will be fine. <3

  4. if the version doesnt work so long as your baby is not in distress they will wait to do the c section, i had my second baby turned it took 2 attempts and it was nothing compared to the trauma and pain of a c section, lets not forget that this is major surgery. i would advise trying the version, it is uncomfortable and really weird to see it happen but believe me if it works its worth it. good luck x
