343 Industries releases new Halo 4 UNSC Weapons trailer – Video Games Feature
In response to Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Multiplayer reveal trailer, 343 Industries (343i) was quick to release a new Halo 4 trailer showcasing the UNSC weapons in the game.
343i has revealed that there will be eleven UNSC weapons in the game. Gamers will be pleased to hear that many of their favourite guns will be making a return. The short trailer showcases the following human weapons:
Assault Rifle:
There is no explanation needed for the return of the iconic close to mid range automatic weapon. Gamers who had the opportunity to try out the game at PAX 2012 have complained that the Assault Rifle in Halo 4 is really weak when compared to other weapons.
Hopefully 343i will buff it in the final build.
Magnum:
The series’ standard pistol returns. 343i has stated that Halo 4’s Magnum won’t be as powerful as that of Halo: Combat Evolved, chances are that it will be similar to that of Halo Reach.
Battle Rifle (BR):
The most popular burst fire weapon of the series, since Halo 2, makes a return after being missing in action in Halo Reach. Gamers will be delighted to hear that the BR model has gotten a visual overhaul and looks impressive.
DMR:
The Designated Marksman Rifle from Halo Reach will also be returning in Halo 4 with a brand new look. It is however confusing to see the DMR and the BR side by side and many gamers are wondering which one of the two medium to long range guns will be more
powerful.
Rocket Launcher:
The big bazooka, its back and it looks better than ever. From the trailer it seems like this weapon has not received any noticeable changes.
UNSC Shotgun:
The UNSC Shotgun is the second Shotgun revealed so far, the first one being the Scattershot which is a Promethean weapon. The UNSC Shotgun has received a complete visual makeover and now looks like one of the most bad-a*s weapons in the game. It looks like
343i has buffed it up a bit as well.
UNSC Sniper Rifle:
The long range weapon will be returning and from the trailer it seems that apart from the Visuals of the gun, 343i has not made any other changes. In the right hands it’s still as lethal as ever.
Spartan Laser:
One of the most powerful weapons in the series returns. The Spartan Laser is a single shot weapon which requires a short charging period before it fires. A kill is pretty much confirmed if it connects.
Sticky Detonator (NEW):
A pistol that shoots a sticky grenade which can be detonated with a press of a button... sounds pretty deadly. This is a brand new weapon in the series and was first shown at the Halo 4 reveal CGI trailer in 2011.
The SAW (NEW):
The SAW seems to be Halo 4’s mini-gun. It will be a heavy weapon in the game which means that it probably won’t be available in the default load-outs and will most likely be an ordinance drop.
RailGun (NEW):
The RailGun is a short to medium range single shot weapon which just like the Spartan laser has a small charge time before it fires.
It looks like Halo 4 is set to dominate the first person shooter market this holiday as these are just some of the weapons that will be in the game. Many gamers are disappointed that there is no Dual-wielding like that in Halo 3 but 343i will make up for
that will the largest arsenal of weapons in any Halo game ever. 343i has yet to reveal all of the Covenant weapons and the Promethean/Forerunner weapons.
