Question:

35 weeks measuring 31 and posterior positioned baby?

Had my midwife appointment yesterday and I am measuring 31 weeks even though I am 35. She felt the baby and said it feels like a 35 week old baby, but I am just not measuring that way. I requested an ultrasound just to put my mind at rest, but she said she is 99.9% sure everything is fine with the baby's measurements. Baby is posterior so this could have something to do with it? I have gained 23 pounds so it's not like I haven't gained weight either! I am 5"7 and in pretty good shape too. Anyone else gone through this/going through this or has any comments they can share?

  1. At 37 weeks, I measured 3 weeks small.  Once you get to 32 weeks, your measurements are not always accurate due to many things: how the baby's laying, how low they are, etc.  I had my baby 4 days after my due date and he was over 9lbs, no where near being small.  I was also in good shape and my doctors had no worries that he would be under weight.  If you midwife is sure everything is fine, then I am sure it is.  If you are any bit concerned though, have the ultrasound...after all it is your baby, so it is your choice. Be sure to voice your all your thoughts and concerns.  It shouldn't be anything new to your midwife.  Best of luck to you.
