Question:

350Z... shifting from Neutral to Drive mode while accelerating...

Is it harmful? What would happen if I'm at a stop and shift to neutral and push the gas, and then shift to drive on my 06 350Z? If it's not harmful, does it make any difference in a race?

Also, if I decide just to race my car, should have turn off or leave on the TCS, traction control system?

  1. Eek!  I hope you havn't done this to your Z.  If so, DON'T DO IT ANYMORE.  It is detrimental to your transmission.  You can totally kill your transmission if you keep doing this and it would cost thousands to have replaced.  As far as TCS, it is your traction control.  If you want to drag race, turn it OFF.  Judging by the questions your asking, you're Z is going to have a short lifespan.

  2. If you have to ask these questions on here, you should not be racing.

  3. That is often refered to as a "neutral drop" and it will DESTROY your transmission and torque convertor. Do NOT do it anymore if you have any respect for you Z.

TCS is a traction control system, if you want your tires to spin you need to turn the TCS off. Most people do not use TCS while racing because it cuts the engine when the tires spin.
