36 volt dc motor run at 72 volts dc?

with dc that is direct current.  If you pump 72 volts dc through it it will automatically fry the wiring the armature and the coil instantly.

It will run faster and harder than it ever did before, for a few moments anyway... Components will be melting, that is all i will say

The heat generated from double the voltage it's meant for will melt the bushings, then it will lock up, and never work again. But before that it will run like crazy.
