360 Wireless Adapter Problem?

I just bought a wireless adapter for my 360 and when i try and go live everything goes great until i have to update the console, i say yes and then a few seconds later it tells me i cannot download the update and to check my settings. what to do to fix it?

Check your internet and see if you are out of range of it or if there is anything blocking the signal.
