  1. Edward Steichen did a project like that. He photographed the same tree every day. If memory serves, he took more than 1 a day though at different times of the day.

If you know of any planned development of a currently vacant lot that might make an interesting series. Or maybe a series of an area scheduled for demolition.

I'd try to have the identical vantage point for each picture and probably have the camera on a tripod.

  2. Photo a flower garden, large tree from same  angel could  work.  I like  the  four  seasons ones  Ive seen of  one  tree.  It could  also be interesting on a street corner facing same  direction. Weather  could  be  a  factor in that . The  people  and  cars  would be changing each day.  Maybe  from inside  a  shopping  mall where you could  see the changes of mall decoration's they do and  all the  shoppers, then  weather  wouldn't stop you.  AND  Animals  from  birth to adulthood might  work  also.   Good  Luck

  3. I think it would be great to give yourself variety.  Try nature / plants, or landscapes, portraits, architecture, etc... Of if you are wanting to stick to one subject... you have to know that you could probably gather up a different person each day for 365 portraits.   Also, I think it would be interesting to do a whole series of action / motion shots. Which can include stopping action or blurring action.

    Thanks for reading!

  4. One shot a day? I shot 1,500 photos in about three and a half hours at one gig.

Anyway, since you're not going to use the camera for anything else, why don't you mount it on a tripod in your room, pointing it outside you window, at the same spot, and take a photo of it at the exact time, every day, for a year.

Sorry if that sounds sarcastic--I just thought it was a waste of money to get that camera and use it once a day.

  5. I think he means one good shot per day folks, not just a random shot.  Try doing some shots where you leave your shutter open for a while.  Make that like a months worth of shots and take pictures of streams with 2-4 second exposures and pictures of traffic going by at sunset.  Also, leave your camera pointed at the sky on a clear night and you can track the paths of the stars.  It's pretty sweet.  Great plan to take all of those shots.  I hope you can keep it up!  I admire that!

  6. Why not browse Flickr for a while, if you are stuck for ideas.

These shot-a-day self-assignments are very helpful.  It might help you even more if you open a Flickr account for yourself and actually POST one shot a day so that others can follow your progress and give critique.  I've seen many others do this and the growth is exponential.
