im 37 weeks and have had diarhea since friday and 2day, its not the rushing to the toilet kind but instead of it being very solid {from the vitamins i take} its very runny,is rare for me to have diarhea if im pregnant or not. I am also losing small lumps of what appears to be mucous when i go to the toilet its not red but it is like stringy snot white/yellow. Also in the past 4 days the babys head has engaged into the pelvis. too the braxton hicks contractions have gotten stronger not so much more frequent but more painful.

Just wondering if this could be pre labour and how long it could last?

SORRY ABOUT THE GRAPHIC INFO I JUST DIDNT KNOW HOW TO DESCRIBE THINGS!!!!

  1. Yes, all of that combined could be labor on its way, but it's not a guarantee that it will happen anyday. You may experience this for a week or longer.

  2. From what you've described, it appears you have lost your mucus plug (which happens, of course, at some point before true labor begins).  If this is your first baby, you may still have several days to go.  If this is a second or third baby, real labor may be imminent.

A rush of hormones is usually what causes the diarrhea and that could definitely signal that labor is beginning.  Also, braxton hicks contractions are not supposed to be painful - REAL contractions ARE painful so that may be an important sign.  Can you walk around when they are happening or do you need to pause or sit?  Can you speak easily during them? Real contractions cause you to stop whatever you're doing for a minute until they pass.

It sounds to me like you are ready to go!  I would start calling friends and family members Sunday morning and let them know you are close so they can prepare.  In my opinion, your labor will begin in earnest shortly and you'll probably give birth within the next 2 days ..... Tuesday at the very latest!

Get as much rest as you can NOW so you will have the strength to deal with labor (since you may not have much time before you put yourself into a capable doctor/nurse/midwife's hands).  How exciting!  Good Luck!!! :-D

  3. does the contraction or pain decrease during activity/rest?and f the contraction doesnt radiate..then it might be a false labor...and may last for several days or week (or a couple)...otherwise, together with effacement and dilatation, then its a true labor..have a weekly check up..Godbless
