This is my third pregnancy.I went to the doctors yesterday and was told my baby was over 7 pounds due to me having gestational diabetes. He also checked my cervix and said i was dilated to 2, he also stretched my cervix "to get things moving". He said if i was still pregnant at next weeks visit we would talk about being induced. I would like to 'get things moving along' on my own any suggestions? My doc told me if I wanted to do this to go on and try. All and any suggestions would be appreciated.

  1. I've heard walking, squats, and s*x can do the trick. But I have not personally experienced it because this is my first.

    Good luck and congratulations.

  2. All the regulars.....walking, spicy food, s*x.....but none of them will work unless the baby is totally ready! Don't get discouraged! You cant force this to happen!

  3. Try walking.. moving up and down ..

    Good luck and congrats !

  4. Try walking and s*x.

  5. Walk.  Have s*x- seriously!  It helps soften the cervical tissues.  Castor oil doesn't work.  Nothing really works, but a few things can help make it easier when it does happen on it's own.

But the reality is there isn't much you can do to get things moving on your own without drugs.  And 37 weeks is too early for you to be trying.  Even a doctor won't induce until less than a week before you are due because the baby may not be ready, making the delivery harder for both of you and more likely to end in a c-section.

  6. Walk Walk Walk that about the best advise I can give you.

  7. Some people have said that if you play with your nipples it can help labor come on.  I know it sounds weird, but some people are willing to try anything.

  8. s*x !!

    WALK!!

    and

    I heard SPICEY FOODS :)

    GOOD LUCK

  9. I am mom to 4 who were all born past their due dates by 9 days, 11 days, 5 days and 7 days.  I had Gestational Diabetes with my last pregnancy.  I was also 38 years old so I was monitored closely with weekly visits beginning at 32 weeks.  I was told my baby would easily be over 8 pounds, but she was born at 41 weeks weighing only 6 pounds 14 ounces.  Ultrasounds are only estimates of weight, not necessarily too accurate, but rather a ballpark figure.  I tried a variety of natural labor inducing things.  I walked for miles, had a lot of s*x, tried nipple stimulation, ate spicy food, walked up and down stairs, did squats, drove down bumpy back roads and scrubbed floors on my hands and knees.  For me, nothing made my babies come any faster than what my body and my baby were ready for.  There are several other suggestions such as drinking castor oil or red raspberry leaf tea.  I recently came across an intriguing suggestion that I may have given a try if I'd known about it and that was to dance naked in the moonlight.  With all the monitoring I had with my youngest, it was clear that both the baby and I were doing well so I resisted the suggestion to induce if there wasn't a medical reason to do so.  My team of doctors agreed to wait until I was 41 weeks and showing no signs of impending labor.  I agreed to try a prostoglandin gel insertion just to see if it would get my cervix to consider thinning and softening.  Instead I had a horrible reaction to it and started having 6 minute contractions which sent my baby into distress.  We had a few tense moments and it was an intense labor and delivery, but both my baby and I came through it.  In hindsight, I wished I would have gone with my instinct and let my body go into labor naturally.  I was controlling my blood sugar well with my meal plan and glucose monitorin

  10. i've heard that going for a walk or even having s*x can get you to go in labour. Try it out and maybe it will help you out. Good luck :)
