38 weeks having contractions... and back pain ?

I am having contractions around every 10 mins but they aren't painful at all? I am also having some back pain. should i go the hospital?

  1. It's pre-labor or braxton hicks. So you should wait it out. Eat a good meal, get your house clean and ready since you know it's about that time. Take a hot bath, and get some sleep, a lot of sleep, because it's likely you'll be going to the hospital soon.

NO!!  Keep going about your regular routine and stay active.  If this is the real thing, your contractions will get stronger and closer together.  If not, they will subside.  Do not bother going to the hospital until your contractions are about 5 minutes apart, lasting for a minute and they have been that way consistently for one hour (5-1-1).  You often feel contractions in your back - especially if your baby is posterior (sunny side up).  Do pelvic rocks to ease the discomfort (get on all fours, hang your head, arch your back slowly up and down).  You will know you are in active labor when you can no longer walk or talk during your contractions....then it's time to think hospital!  Good luck!  It will happen soon enough, if not today.
