Question:

39 weeks pregnant and no movement ?

Ok so I am 39 weeks today and I've noticed as well as family that my tummy is smaller and the baby is not moving. I've tried my normal procedure to get him to move ( drink apple and orange juice) and nothing. I am really scared and not sure what to do at this point. I called my ob and spoke with her nurse on yesterday and told her that my belly was smaller but that he was moving a little, but have not felt a kick in almost 12 hours. Any advise?

  1. Call your doc..ON THE WAY TO labor and delivery at your local hospital!!!!! This is not normal, it is normal for movement to slow in last weeks of pregnancy, but not for it to stop. I pray every thing is okay. good luck from a mommy to five great kids

  2. You are very close to your due date.  Call the doctor again.  Don't worry about being a bother to them.  They need to know what is going on.

  3. I would demand to be seen by my doctor or an ER doctor...to be safe.

That being said, it's not uncommon for you to "look" smaller because the baby drops into your pelvis prior to delivery also, the lack of movement may be because a lack of room.

My son didn't move much at all during the last few weeks and he was over ten pounds.  There just wasn't any room.  We went to 42 weeks.

You can go to target right now and get a fetal monitor for about 20 bucks...I had one throughout my pregnancy so that I could always listen for a heartbeat...that helped calm my nerves...but at this point, you may just want to go in...you are full term after all...have them check you out, and if you're just too stressed you can have them induce.

    Good Luck.

Please let us know how it goes!  Good Luck and God Bless!

    Oh that's WONDERFUL.  Congratulations!

He must just be so cramped...seriously, by the time I was that far along...neither me or baby were doing much moving...

Well it won't be too long now....CONGRATULATIONS!!

  4. Movement does slow as you get closer to your due date because there is less room. But 12 hours seems like too long to me. I would contact your ob again or head to the ER

Good luck and I hope all is well

  5. when this happened to me,

    i went to the ER

i was not taking any chances.

  6. Call your maternity ward, the number will be in your green notes. it's probably nothing but it's best to get it checked out by processionals.

Good Luck and god bless to you and your baby

  7. You should go and have an ultrasound because the baby my be in distress.  Also they do not have that much room to move when you get that far along.  I wish you the best.

  8. The baby either is cramped and has no room to move, or something is wrong. I would go in and get the heart rate checked, if for nothing else then to ease your mind. GL!!

  9. Go to the doctor IMMEDIATELY

this happened with my mom when she was about 5 months, sad to say I never got the little sister i was hoping for

  10. Go to the ER. If you can't get 10 kicks in 2 hours you need to go. I had that happen to. Thankfully my little guy was ok, and started moving once they hooked me up to the machine.

  11. Go to the ER right away! If you haven't felt a kick in 12 hours you need to be seen.
