39 weeks pregnant and went to my ususal appointment today and he said that I am 1.5 cm dialated but havent ?

efaced he said that was still closed and he stripped my memebranes, if I am dialated how can I still be closed he really confused me! Someone please explain this to me!

effacement is the process in which the cervix prepares for delivery after the baby engages the pelvis it gradually drops closer to the cervix and the cervix softens gets thinner and  when you are 100 percent effaced that means your cervix is paper thin and labor is right around the corner.  Good Luck

hiya. you have to be 10cm dilated to be in full labour.  it could take a couple of days but you're on your way.  hope it all goes well for you.  t xx
