I am 39 week and due in 3 days. I have been having sharp pains in my back, side and upper/lower stomach. It hurts so bad. It is off and on lasting a few hours and leaving then coming back. I am tired and scared. It intensifies when I breath. Has anyone had this kind of pain? This is my first child. Any advise as to how to stop this? Thanks moms in advance for your help.

  1. you could be in labour go to the hospital

  2. Sounds like labor pains.  The pain in your back could be back labor.  I would start timing your pains.

  3. you probably just need to f**t.

  4. Call your doctor! You could be going into Labor. Only 4% of babies are due on their due date, so you could go into Labor at anytime. They say anywhere from 38 - 42 weeks is "full term"

  5. Hi, I'm a midwife...if you rang with these symptoms, I'd suggest you take paracetamol, or paracetamol with codiene, have a big drink of water (as being hydrated allows the muscles to work as they are supposed to rather than just spasmodically contracting), try a warm bath or shower and try and get some sleep.  You may be getting ready to go into labour, but aren't yet - if they go away again, it's not labour.  Unfortunately this can go on for several days, or even weeks, so it becomes really important to get as much rest and stay as hydrated as possible.  Once the pains get to about 5 mins apart (from when one starts until the next one starts, and they should be lasting a minimum 30 seconds.  Also, should be ALL  the same, not some 5 mins apart, one 8 mins, one 10mins and then 5 mins again.) you should give your delivery centre a call and probably go in.  Basically, the longer you can stay home, the better for you.  If you go in too early, your cervical change won't meet the hospital criteria (because you are in really early labour and not established labur) and they will want to 'interfere' by augmenting your contractions, with sytocinon, or pitocin if you are in the States.  Then it will all be too painful and you will end up with an epidural, etc, etc.  Stay home for as long as you can - either until you need to push (!) or until they are about 2 mins apart.

Don't get too worried, but if you are, call your delivery centre, they should happily give you advice on the phone.

    Good luck!

  6. at this point miscarriage isnt really a possibility so i hope youve stopped worrying about that.. honestly the girl who said "you probably have to f**t" is probably right as blunt or rude as it might have come off.. your body is getting ready to push and squeeze its way thru the biggest workout its ever had.. and its going to prepare itself by loosening and also getting rid of all your excess gas, as well as solids. sorry if its TMI but it really is common for people to take the poo of a lifetime a day or 2 before they go into labor... its just your body getting ready, cuz if youre full of "it", anything and everything in the lower half of your body is going to come out while your baby is coming out! so anyway, contractions really arent "sharp" pains, more of an uncomfortable squeeze that will get progressively worse.. good luck!

  7. Go to the doctor............

  8. Please go to the hospital!!!

  9. kinda sounds like ligament pains. I get the same thing and doc and hospital cant and wont do squat for you

  10. The baby is leaning on a nerve. A sciatic nerve...Docs for you. (its normal but doc is needed)

  11. My advice is call your doctor.
