'96 Acura 3.2TL automatic hesitates in first gear?

I have a '96 Acura 3.2TL automatic, and it jerks a couple times while taking off from a dead stop before shifting into 2nd gear. The rpm's hesitate while they rise but once it shifts into 2nd though, it doesn't jerk anymore? What is the problem? Is it the Spark Plugs? Or is it the Spark Plug wires? or is it something completely different?

  1. We had a 98 TL which is the same thing.  All of the TLs through 2003 had horrible transmissions.  All of them have to be replaced at sometime.  When you have a bad transmission, though, many different things can happen.  It can grown, hesitate at different parts, or (in our case) hesitate and then quickly overheat.

This repair will be costly, so get ready...

  2. tranny..get it fixed.

  3. 1st gear clutch pack.

    or 2nd gear clutch pack.

go get yourself a 6speed acura legend coupe!

  4. Since you did not mentioned any trouble with rest of the gears it does not seem like spark plug or plug wires problem. Is car idling at a lower speed then before? May be your gas pedal is slow to respond?
