I Replaced VAC modulator and Vac switching valve. Egr was cleaned and when vacuum was applied to the egr valve, engine speed was reduced at idle. The engine light came back on and indicated EGR problem again. HELP!

  1. Your most likely going to have to replace the EGR with a new one in order to keep the check engine light off. After you replace it you may have to remove the Neg.--battery cable to reset it. You could try that with the old now, just unhook the battery cable and wait for 10 seconds then hook it back up , then start the car and see if the light stays off.

  2. When you applied vacuum to the EGR valve the engine should of stalled. The valve may not be opening as far as should be or as smooth as it should be.

Do you have power at the VSV and ground when the computer turns it on? How is the EGR temp senser? What is the code that is setting?

  3. did you attach the lines with the car running? that will throw a code. also just because an egr is cleaned doesnt mean its any good did you test the diaphragm?
