'99 pontiac grand am gt, change exhaust sound???

i love my gagt........one other thing i love is the exaust sound that the infinit''s have... my buddy to put borla exaust on my car and it will sound like an infiniti...but there like 900 bucks..and i dont want to put that much mone into the car...i just take care of the car so it takes care of me;; now is the cataletic converter that makes that pontiac noise?? that all the grand am's and grand prixs' have?? how can i make my exaust sound really kool? and now have to spend that much money.. i mean...its just a pontiac... :-( lol.....thxx guys..

I had a magnaflow muffler installed on my 04 gt with the resonator removed, and it sounds great. Cost me $300. The muffler is actually a camaro muffler. Go to youtube and type in grand am exhaust. You will find all kinds of exhaust clips.
