Inter Milan manager, Claudio Ranieri, is upset after yet another defeat for his team and insists that “it’s a snapshot of our current moment.”
The Nerazzurri suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Olympique Marseille in the first-leg of the last 16 round of UEFA Champions League at Stade Velodrome on Wednesday, February 22. Andre Ayew’s only goal of the game meant that
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567’s winless streak extended to seven matches.
Ranieri admitted that he was predicting a strong start from the French side, and is lamenting on his team’s inability to finish from the limited chances they created. The former AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 boss believes that his side’s performances
were exactly a tale of how things have gone for them so far this season.
However, the manager is keeping his hopes high and insists that the tie is still not over, and with the second-leg to be played at their own home, there is every chance that his team can qualify for the quarter-finals of the competition.
While talking to Sky Sports Italia, Ranieri said,
“We knew they would get off to a very strong start, but we never gave in and created some chances that we failed to convert. This game is like a snapshot of our current moment, as when things go wrong then they really go wrong,
but this tie does not end here. There are another 90 minutes to go and with a packed San Siro in the second leg anything is possible.”
Ranieri once again deployed a new formation, and played http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wesley-Sneijder-c36799 in a role just behind the striker. The 60-year-old is sad that despite playing well for majority of the game, his side failed to finish off their chances.
“Everyone made sacrifices for the team and it’s a shame to see we can’t score despite all those opportunities. I am satisfied with the performance from the lads.”
To make matters worse for La Beneamata, influential defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Maicon-c23157, picked up a serious knee injury, and is set to miss the action for several weeks.
The second-leg will be played at San Siro next month.
