'Commission types' question (in reference to affiliate programmes)...?

Could you please tell me the great difference between:

1.Per referral?

2.Per sale?

3.Per lead?

4.Per sale and Per lead?

  1. Good question... no they aren't the same...

    1) is commission for a referral that still needs to be closed, they are a lead but they have not been sold. ie: payperclick leads that haven't seen a sales process prior to arriving at the original service or product site.

    2) is commission for a completed sale ie. a sale that takes place through a sales process on an affiliates site/salesletter page and is processed only through the back end of the original site... payment etc..

    3) when someone provides a lead ie: someone has a list and they suggest that the people on their list follow a link to a sales process page....

    4) when that person from -3- converts into a sale a higher payout takes place... but having leads has a value weather they convert or not when someone is sharing their list with you.
