Everyone has been tempted to just leave a restaraunt without paying or without paying enough. I was just wondering, exactly how much trouble can you get into if you do this? How do they track people down? Let me know!!!

  1. If they catch you, a lot.  But they might not.  Dont do it anyways.  It can be very rude to the waitress, and whole restaraunt

  2. I used to be a server at Applebee's. Whenever a customer did that (it only happened to me once) the manager just cleared the tab and it went away. However, the manager also treated me like c**p for the rest of the week because I lost him $40. Not to mention I didn't get a tip. So it isn't a nice thing to do. Kinda trashy.

  3. Ok first - people make their living based on the tips they make - in most states servers don't get paychecks.

In every restaurant I have worked in the server has to pay your unpaid check or get written up. It is never ok to dine and dash. It is stealing.

That being said: You probably wouldn't really get in trouble - in fact servers aren't usually allowed to follow people out into the parking lot. So if you are sneaky you could probably get away with it. Just make sure you never go back.

If you decide to try it out I think Karma will repay you.

  4. Its called "theft of services"
